Me and my CJ's Earth Hour Eureka moment!

"I want to do this longer. Can we do it every 28th of the month Mama? I'm a nature keeper-in-training and I just gave the earth a gift" CJ Parsons, 9.28pm, 28th March, 2009 He said this as we counted down, last two minutes til end of Earth hour last Mar 28th while wiping away tears. I can't tell you how touched I was touched and how grateful I am to our Barefootprint Teachers Cherie, Lei, LJ and Denv for making such eureka moment happen :=) I just realized once again that kids will only learn to love nature and the outdoors if we show them how, if we commit to being a positive example for them. We can no longer take this responsibility lightly---it's not going to happen overnight. It takes planting the seeds which need to be nurtured every day in their young minds and hearts. We did a candlelit video diary so I can capture his thoughts and we played with shadows. CJ was sweating a lot but no complaints at all. He said, "sweating is not a sacrifice. We are doing good for earth". SALAMAT BEST TEACHERS FOREVER!!! WE'RE DOING THIS EVERY 28TH, 8:30-9:30PM. I am personally resolved after hearing CJ doubting my restraint and commitment, "Mama, are you suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure, you can handle an hour without computer????" Wish ME luck! I need to do this...for earth, for us, for my son! ------------------------------------------------- NatureKeepers with Kids Ahoy & Barefootprint: EARTH HOUR Special

Yesterday, CJ, Rafael, Aaron & Louis enjoyed two separate Earth Hours. They enjoyed the official Earth Hour from 8.30-9.30pm, but they also spent 3-4pm engaging in Earth Hour activities.

They were joined for the first game by Mavi & Jego.

We all enjoyed the Electricity mini-lecture, the Earth Hour video, an Earth Hour activity hunt which culminated with candle holder making with recycled materials. The kids also gave a short message on video for Earth Hour, which we'll be uploading later.

Thanks again to Kids Ahoy, Aaron and Mummy Maj, Rafael, Louis, CJ & Mummy Joanne for a wonderful NatureKeepers special. Thanks also to Teachers LJ and Denvie.

We're happy to announce that CJ has declared the 28th of each month as Earth Hour night, and Aaron's family will turn the lights of every Saturday. That's NatureKeeping at its very best :)

Til next week - April 4 - Happy NatureKeeping!!
